Cranberry Syrup

I developed this recipe back in December 2014 and just realized that it was not on the website! How could this be?
Let’s fix it :)

Thanksgiving is a special occasion for both kids and adults. You can make it festive one cocktail glass at a time. This cranberry syrup is delicious, dark pink and makes a cocktail base for all your guests. The kids can mix it with sparkling water or clear soda. As for the adults the possibilities are endless: jazz it up with Champagne, Vodka, Gin… Have fun!

8 oz (240 g) fresh cranberries
1 cup granulated sugar
1 cup water
1 teaspoon size of fresh ginger
2 small strips of lemon peel (or orange peel)

Prep all the ingredients.
You will need one small pot and a sieve (strainer).

In a small pot put the fresh cranberries, granulated sugar, water, fresh ginger and your choice of lemon or orange peel strips. Bring to a boil, lower the heat and let it simmer for 10 minutes until the cranberry start to burst. Remove from the heat, pour the liquid through a sieve. Discard the fruit, ginger and zest. Reserve the syrup in the fridge in an air tight container until cold.
You can use this base for both alcoholic and non alcoholic drinks.
Add few tablespoons of the cold cranberry syrup in a glass and be creative... Sparkling water, soda, champagne, vodka, gin…
